If you want to go to the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ games by car, you should pay attention to the traffic signs throughout the route, since the detours will begin 5 hours before the beginning of the games. 

Check out the changes in the traffic flow and plan ahead:

  1. Bonocô Ave. (towards Comércio) will have traffic restricted beginning at the access to Vale do Ogunjá;
  2. Vale de Nazaré (towards Bonocô Ave.) will have traffic restricted in the area of the Comercial Ramos store;
  3. Vasco da Gama Ave. (towards Dike) the restriction will begin at the JK overpass, where all traffic will be diverted to Garibaldi Ave.;
  4. Joana Angélica Ave., from Center Lapa, towards Campo da Pólvora, only residents’ vehicles will have access;
  5. Nazaré (towards Centro) the restriction will begin at Marquês de Barbacena Lane (SESC);
  6. Galés Road, traffic will be diverted to Djalma Dutra Street.

 

Alternative Routes:

  • To go from the areas of Cabula, BR-324 and the Shoreline to the Lower City
    Use Via Expressa, França Ave., Luis Eduardo Magalhães Ave. and Contorno Ave.
  • To go from the areas of Cabula, BR-324 and the Shoreline to the City Center
    Use ACM Ave., Juracy Magalhães Ave., Anita Garibaldi Ave., Vale do Canela and Campo Grande.
  • To go from the region of Paralela and the Shoreline to the City Center
    Use Oceânica Ave. and Sete de Setembro Ave. beginning at Barra Road.
  • To go from the Lower City to the Center
    Always use Comércio and Contorno ave.
  • To go from the region of Nazaré, Barbalho and Liberdade to the Center
    Go to Vale de Nazaré, near Santa Luzia Hospital, the Américo Simas Tunnel and Contorno Ave.
  • To go from the City Center to the region of Cabula, BR-324 
    Use Contorno Ave, Miguel Calmon Street, Jequitaia Ave. and Via Expressa or Luis Eduardo Magalhães Ave., accessing it via Calçada and San Martin Ave.
  • To go from the Center to the Lower City
    Use Contorno Ave., Miguel Calmon Street and Jequitaia Ave.
  • To go from the Center to the region of Nazaré, Barbalho and Liberdade
    Use Contorno Ave., Miguel Calmon Street, Jequitaia Ave. and Água Brusca Road.

On game days, avoid traveling on the avenues Bonocô, Vale de Nazaré, Vasco da Gama, Vale dos Barris, Joana Angélica and Vale do Ogunjá.
